Whew! Lots Of Bridesmaid Gifts In June!

Bridal Party Gifts – Tiffany

Tiffany is another bride that is getting married in a couple of months. Tiffany loved the monogram bridal party gifts, but she thought they were too plain. We talked about a bunch of different ideas, but we kept coming back to polka dots and zebra stripes. Tiffany couldn’t decide which she liked better and was really starting to get totally stressed out over the whole thing. I told her to relax and let me think about it a little more and we’d come up with the perfect design!

The next day, I sent Tiffany a picture of the glass she ultimately decided to go with. Zebra print polka dots! Needless to say, Tiffany finally had exactly what she wanted and one less thing to worry about!

I boxed them up and sent them out to her a couple of days later. This is what Tiffany had to say about her bridal party gifts:

Bridal Party Gifts – Kathy

Kathy is a Canadian bride to be that chose to go with hand painted wine glasses and pilsner glasses for her entire wedding party. Kathy really liked the design I used for Leslie’s wedding, so we just went with that and used Kathy’s colors! Kathy and I worked together for several days making sure I had all the details I needed in order to paint her glasses!

Kathy ordered 12 glasses for her wedding party. She only really needed ten, but I advised her that if she purchased three sets of four instead of ten individual, she’d actually save over $3.00 per glass! With that in mind, Kathy found a way to use the other two glasses!

Once I had all the information I needed, it was time to paint! Kathy’s colors were pink and blue, so I used pinks on the ladies’ glasses and blue/black on the mens’. As in the past, Kathy agreed that the men really shouldn’t have flowers, ribbons, and doves. We left those off of the mens’ glasses. For the ladies, we used the pinks along with the ribbons, doves, and Gerber Daisies. I’m not sure why, but the Gerber Daisy is really popular this year!

I finished up Kathy’s hand painted wine glasses and pilsner glasses and shipped them off to her. Since they are going to Canada, it will take them a little longer to be delivered. But, I will be sure to post Kathy’s comments once she’s had a chance to see her bridal party gifts in person!

Bridal Party Gifts – Sara

Sara is another bride that chose hand painted wine glasses for her bridal party gifts. Sara chose to go with what seems to be a very popular design right now. She asked that I paint a monogram on each glass that represented the first initial of each of her girls. Sara’s colors are hot ping and black, so I designed the glass with those colors. On the base of the glass, I put “thank you for being my Maid of Honor or Bridesmaid. I also painted the wedding date on the base of the glass.

As stated earlier, the monogram style seems to be very popular right now. I know that I’ve done a lot of them this year. The only real question I have when painting these wine glasses is what font should I use? There are literally hundreds of fonts available. I have done some glasses with a really plain font. Sort of like the font in this text. The font I used on Sara’s glasses is an Edwardian Script. To be honest, this is my favorite font for the bridal party gifts. It’s a fancy yet elegant font, so I think it’s perfect for a wedding.

Bridal Party Gifts – Stephanie

Stephanie was another bride that wanted something special for each of her bridal party gifts. I did a total of twelve glasses for Stephanie and each one was different than the other. I really enjoyed doing these glasses because each was a unique design.

When Stephanie placed her order, she was very thorough in her comments to me about each girl so that I would have a good place to start for each design. The glass on the left was for her cousin, “Jenn”. Stephanie provided a lot of information about Jenn, including her love for her yellow lab, “Taylor”. You can only see Taylor in this picture, but the rest of the glass includes Jenn’s favorite quote, a representation of her favorite sports team, as well as a reference to her occupation – teacher.

Stephanie’s Maid of Honor was “Amanda”. Amanda is a teacher that loves the beach and shopping. Stephanie also provided Amanda’s favorite quote which is also painted on the glass. In the picture on the right, you can see the beach side of Amanda’s glass. Everything else that Stephanie provided is represented somewhere on the glass. This is what Stephanie had to say about her bridal party gifts:

The other ten glasses were done in the same way. Stephanie provided me with information on each girl, and I came up with a design for each. So much fun!

Bridal Party Gifts – International

I have to admit, when I first got this order for bridal party gifts, I wasn’t too sure about it. The bride is Canadian and the groom is from the US. I was asked to somehow capture both nations and make it work. The picture at the left is my first attempt. It turned out OK, and it captured the two countries, but it was still missing something.

Sure, the joining is very obvious. But our countries have been joined at the hip forever! So, this initial design didn’t really get the point across. The bride agreed and asked that I add or do something to make the glass more romantic. I thought about it for a day or so and added more detail. In the picture on the right, you can see where I’ve added a dove as well as a bunch of tiny hearts. There is also a dove on the American side of the bow which is also surrounded by hearts! On the opposite side of the glass, I painted the names of the bride and groom and the base has the date on it. I added the tiny hearts all over the glass, and they really made a difference. This is what the customer had to say:

“With less than 2 weeks notice Tabbi glass created beautiful customized wedding glasses that arrived with time to spare and were less expensive than other companies I had considered. I had the odd request of creating wine glasses for a wedding that represented two different countries being tied together and Tabbi came up with a beautiful design within hours. Bridal Party Gifts – Jillian

This was so much fun! Jillian wanted 12 glasses for her bridal party gifts, and each and every one of them was specifically designed for each individual in her bridal party! We did the cat lover (pictured), dog lover, wine lover, pharmacist, math teacher, etc. We did it all!

Jillian was very clear that she wanted each one of her gifts to reflect the personality of each individual. There is no mention of the date or bride/groom on any of these glasses! Jillian wanted to make every glass special and insisted the the art reflect the individual, not the event.

Jillian simple provided me with a paragraph on each individual. Their occupation, their favorite color, their hobby, and their passion. With that information, together, we were able to create the perfect glass for each girl.

I was so very happy to be a part of this! I truly believe that these bridal party gifts will go down in history as the best ever in Jillian’s circle of friends!

Jillian was so happy that she wrote a review for every glass! Here’s just some of what she had to say:

Bridal Party Gifts – Elyse

Elyse is having a destination wedding in October in Shell Beach California and she wanted bridal party gifts that captured the theme of her wedding on the beach. Her colors are navy and ivory, her flowers are burnt orange Calla Lilies. Elyse also told me that starfish were imprinted on just about everything, so I used a lot of those on her glasses as well.

Elyse didn’t want anything remarkable at all. Just a simple design that reflects the day. She did make it a point that she didn’t want her or the groom’s name on the glasses. She decided that “…I would like each glass as a way of thanking my friends and mother for being a part of this special day. I don’t want the glasses to have “Elyse and Jason” on them, but more about them.”

So, I took the information Elyse provided and designed the glasses you see here. Of course, there is a glass for each member of her bridal party as well as her mother. The base of the glass has a sandy beach with a pier depicted. I put starfish all over the glass. I put a single Calla Lily next to each girl’s name. All of the words on the glassess are done in navy blue with ivory trim. The date of the wedding is painted on the base as well. I had thought about putting a palm tree opposite the Lily, but when I talked with Elyse about it, she decided she liked them better without it.

When I finished painting Elyse’s bridal party gifts, I sent her pictures so she could approve the design and the workmanship. This is what Elyse had to say:

Bridal Party Gifts – Leslie

When Leslie first contacted me about painting her bridal party gifts, she wasn’t sure what she wanted. So, we talked a little bit through email so I could learn a little more about her wedding and the people in her bridal party.

Leslie told me the date of her wedding, the names of the people involved and the capacity in which they’d each serve, her colors, and the flowers they had chosen for the event. She wasn’t interested in anything real fancy. Just a design that would capture the day while saying thank-you to the bridal party.

With the information Leslie provided, I was off and running! I created a simple design that featured her colors of pink and orange as well as her chosen flower, the Gerber Daisy! The glass pictured is the “Maid of Honor” glass. The base of the glass simply states: “Thank You For Being My Maid Of Honor”. Her name is prominently displayed on the body of the glass and the bride and groom’s name and the date of the wedding are painted on the opposite side.

For the men in the bridal party, I explained to Leslie that, in my experience, men are pretty simple. They probably wouldn’t appreciate the pinks, oranges, and flowers. So Leslie decided on a very simple design on a pilsner glass for the men in her bridal party. Just the names, dates, and a picture of a tuxedo and tie. Simple, yet perfect for the men in her bridal party.

Leslie was absolutely thrilled with the result and had this to say:

Bridal Party Gifts By Tabbi

When I started painting glasses, way back in 1988, it was because of a wedding! My mother-in-law asked me if I could make a couple of glasses for her that she could give as a gift at a bridal shower she would be attending. Little did I know then how popular and sought after hand painted bridal party gifts would become! I can honestly say that that is where I got my start with getting my work out on display in public. The gift my mother-in-law gave that day was the hit of the party, and I’ve been doing them ever since.

While my business has grown to include all kinds of hand painted designs, my favorite orders are still bridal party gifts! It is always so much fun to play a small role in what is the biggest day in a bride’s life! I very much enjoy working with the bride to come up with the perfect design for the girls that have played such an important part in her life. It is also very important to me that the bride knows she played a large role in the creation of her glasses. Afterall, it is her day! I’ve simply been blessed with the talent to paint what the bride is feeling and thinking.

In this blog, I will share with you different weddings for which I had the opportunity to create the bridal party gifts! I will tell you about my interactions with the bride, how we shared our ideas, how we eventually came up with the perfect design for her wedding, and how they turned out.
